This is a super quick and healthy homemade alternative to store bought ketchup. Store bought ketchup often contains high amounts of artificial sweetener or high fructose corn syrup which is not very good for you. This recipe omits ingredients like these!
Super-Easy Homemade Ketchup
Oil-free, refined sugar-free, dairy-free
Yield: 1 serving (approx. 2-3 tbsp)
Prep Time: 2 min
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2-3 tablespoon water
½ teaspoon reduced-sodium tamari (or soy sauce)
⅛ teaspoon paprika powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
Black pepper, to taste
Red pepper flakes (optional)
Directions:
Using a fork, whisk all the ingredients together in a small bowl.
Taste and adjust the ingredients if necessary. If you want it more salty, add more salt. Sweeter? Add some date or maple syrup. Add more water if you would like a thinner consistency.
Enjoy with eggs, tofu, potato fries, etc.
