Roasted Cinnamon Candied Nuts

Nutritious and extremely delicious, these candied nuts have been my go-to snack lately! This treat was actually created by my mother and quickly became a household favorite! So I had to share it with you! These candied nuts have the perfect amount of sweetness, nuttiness, and crispiness! And they are far better than any roasted candied nut I've bought from the store. After switching to making everything at home, I've realized how the freshness of homemade treats is incomparable to anything that you could get from the store. The nutrition is preserved and there are of course no unnecessary additives that come with any food that's processed in a factory! And it definitely reduces the waste that comes with buying treats like these from the store!

Roasted Cinnamon Candied Nuts

Yield: 6 cups nuts

Prep Time: 5 mins

Bake Time: 20 mins

Total Time: 25 mins

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups raw unshelled pecans

  • 2 cups raw unshelled walnuts

  • 2 cups raw unshelled almonds

  • 2-3 tbsp date syrup (you can sub with honey or maple syrup)

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Line a baking tray with aluminum foil.

  3. Pour and mix the assortment of nuts on the tray until evenly spread out.

  4. Put in the oven to bake for 10 minutes. Then, remove from the oven to stir the nuts before placing back in the oven for the remaining 20 minutes.

  5. After removing from the oven, immediately sprinkle the salt evenly across the nuts while stirring. Then, immediately stir in half of the cinnamon before drizzling and stirring in half of the date syrup. Rotate this process until using up all the cinnamon and syrup.

  6. Allow the nuts to cool and the syrup to harden in the baking tray.

  7. Enjoy! Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a month!

What's so amazing about this recipe is that it is very versatile and flexible! I love to switch it up once in a while by adding cashews and pistachios. Mix together any of your favorite nuts! And of course, you can adjust the amount of syrup, cinnamon, or salt to your desired taste! You can even change up the flavoring: simply roasted salted nuts, chocolate-covered nuts, a fall-themed all-spice nut mix, or even spice it up with some siracha or chili seasoning!
